Casablanca
If you're strolling through Cardiff and craving authentic Middle Eastern and North African flavors, Casablanca is the kind of hidden gem that instantly makes your day better. Tucked away at 159 City Rd, Cardiff CF24 3BQ, this charming eatery stands out-not because it’s flashy, but because the food speaks louder than any signage ever could.
Right from the entrance, Casablanca welcomes everyone. There’s wheelchair-accessible seating and an entrance that makes the space genuinely inclusive. The vibe? Laid-back, cozy, and full of warm spices in the air that promise something good is cooking. Whether you're looking for a quick bite, a relaxed solo lunch, or a late dinner with a touch of culture, this spot delivers with casual charm.
Let’s talk food-because that’s what you’re really here for.
Casablanca’s menu is a vibrant fusion of Moroccan, Lebanese, and Mediterranean influences, with dishes that feel like they’ve been passed down through generations. If you’re a fan of halal food, vegan or vegetarian options, or just into organic and healthy dishes, you’ll feel like the chef read your mind. It’s rare to find a place where Turkish coffee, Lebanese kofta, and Moroccan mint tea can all land on your table-and each tastes like it came straight from its country of origin.
Start with the Muttabal, a smoky, creamy eggplant dip that’s impossible not to love, especially when paired with their soft, warm flatbread. If you're in the mood for bold flavor, the Casablanca Shakshuka-eggs poached in a rich tomato and pepper sauce-is a must-try, especially for a late brunch.
For mains, the Grill Platter is a crowd favorite. Think juicy skewers of Shish Kebab, tender Chicken Taouk, and herby Lamb Kofta, all chargrilled to perfection. The Chicken Couscous and Lemon Chicken Tajine are packed with warm spices and slow-cooked comfort. If you’re into variety, the Couscous Mezze Platter gives you a little bit of everything: dips, roasted veggies, and falafel with just the right crunch.
Now, dessert lovers, brace yourselves. The Baklava and Biscuits combo is as sweet and nutty as you’d hope, and the homemade lemonade is the kind of refreshing kick you didn’t know you needed. Add a cup of Moroccan mint tea to round out your meal and you’re golden.
One of the highlights? Casablanca doesn’t just serve food-it offers an experience. From the staff who treat you like family to the atmosphere that’s perfect for everything from working lunches to solo dinners, there’s something genuinely welcoming here. It's no wonder the place is popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Locals love it. Tourists find it and rave about it later. It’s the kind of restaurant you accidentally discover and then can't stop talking about.
If you’re in a rush, Casablanca’s got you. They offer takeaway, delivery, and even no-contact delivery options. Whether you're grabbing an Arabian Falafel Wrap on the go or settling in for a relaxed meal with friends, flexibility is part of the charm.
And yes, let’s not forget the drinks. This place is praised for its coffee and tea selection-especially that bold Turkish coffee-and their free water refills are a thoughtful bonus, especially if you like to linger.
For anyone searching for Middle Eastern restaurants in Cardiff, or simply a healthy halal restaurant with vegan options, Casablanca checks every box. It’s not just about filling your stomach; it’s about connecting with the flavors of a region, served up with heart.

Great food! Lovely restaurant! Definitely book on a Friday and a Saturday, they get filled up quick, the atmosphere was nice, music was a little too loud for our liking! & The waiters just popped the food on the table without asking who's dish was who's but we would go back, it was really delicious!
We recently held a festive meal for 55 people at Casablanca on City Road, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Zac and the team went above and beyond to make the evening a huge success. They were incredibly accommodating, catering to a wide range of dietary needs, including vegan, vegetarian, and meat options, as well as those with allergies. The portions were generous and absolutely delicious – every dish was bursting with flavor! The atmosphere was warm and joyous, with the friendly staff creating a welcoming environment and making sure everyone was well taken care of. Our staff team couldn’t stop raving about the experience, with many saying it was their favorite festive meal to date. A huge thank you to the team at Casablanca for making our night unforgettable. Highly recommend for any group gathering or celebration!
I visited this place while on holiday in Cardiff. I have to say the food was amazing! Service was a bit slow but after having their food, all was forgiven. Had to go back the next day
